A note from the editor
It was with great pleasure that last month I joined the judging panel for the Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Competition.
If the enormity of the task in hand hadn't dawned on me beforehand then it certainly did as the presentations got into full flow. Being in such esteemed company and listening to the UK's top ten finalists present was a real honour.
Your passion for the job and commitment to driving up standards is extremely commendable and most certainly rivals that of the UK's top four and five star restaurants. So, I would like to say well done to you all and, as Aldo Zilli said at the awards lunch the following day, you truly are all winners.
I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate all those shops that entered. Just putting yourself forward for the competition in the first place and opening yourself up to such critique shows how committed you are to this great industry of ours. So if you are sitting there wondering whether you should enter this year, I have one thing to say to you - just do it. Let's continue to showcase the best our industry has to offer and drive up standards for years to come.
Seafish has a number of changes in the pipeline designed to make the whole process easier for everyone involved and we will be notifying you of these over the coming months. So now there really is no excuse not to enter!
