Shops urged to capitalise on media opportunities

16 February 2010

Fish and chip shop owners are being urged to extend their marketing strategy beyond their seasonal advert in the local papers by exploiting free media coverage to capture more diners.

And to give restaurant owners an invaluable edge when it comes to marketing, Peter Richardson of Essex-based PJR Communications has just launched a CD, The Media Relations DIY Guide for Restaurateurs, which Fry Monthly readers can purchase at half-price!

Having worked extensively with restaurants, he says: "I'm still amazed how many restaurateurs don't capitalise on the huge benefits that media coverage can bring. Any restaurant owner who has experienced a positive restaurant review in the media will know what a boost to trade it brings - so why don't they try and capitalise on this by achieving more regular media exposure?"

The CD explains how the media works, how to cultivate good relationships with the media, how to recognise and generate stories, with restaurant examples, and how to write and distribute a press release.

The CD, normally priced at £40 plus VAT and postage and packing, can be purchased by Fry Monthly readers for just £20 plus VAT and p&p. Call 01206 843225 or visit www.pr-forrestaurants.com.
